Broome County Veteran's Memorial Arena

The Arena was built in about 21 months between 1971 and 1973, and it's first event was the Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus, in May of 1973.  The building was not yet complete and the circus performed on a dirt floor.  The buildings concrete "ice-tube" flooring was installed following the circus.  The official ribbon-cutting and opening was September 1973, as Ice Capades graced the ice for the first time.

When it opened in 1973, the Arena bosted a capacity of 7,200, the World's largest self-supporting spiral stair case, 2 Ballrooms, a Bar/Restaurant, and 1,000,000 visitors in it's first year of operation.

Since then, the building has seen many changes, the addition of seats, the removal of seats, the lengthening of the ice surface, and the loss of it's two ballrooms.  All the while playing to area residents, with great shows, like:  Hockey, Basketball, Circuses, Ice Shows, Concerts(of all kinds), 3-time host of the Miss USA World Padgent, trade shows, tractor pulls, and an abundance of other family friendly events.

The Arena, is the undisputed mecca of entertainment in the Twin Tiers.
