Broome Dusters
(NAHL, 1973-1977)

The Broome Dusters were Binghamton's first pro hockey team. The Duster years are split into two eras. The team originated in the North American Hockey League. Jim Matthews helped create the league and owned the Dusters.

The Dusters led the NAHL in attendance during its four years of existance. Binghamton was often praised by The Hockey News and was even declared "HockeyTown, USA." The NAHL was the league behind the movie "Slapshot" and has long been known for living up to the goon hockey image.
